The Who is Hussain teams around the world focus on making a visible difference in their local communities.

To this end, as our team in Zurich carries out food drives to support the volunteers at the food bank Essen für Alle (please read on for more details) every week, we are very much dependent on your support. We have all walks of people in our Jamaat who can volunteer to:

  • cook a vegetarian and non-vegetarian dish each week
  • deliver the food to the charity on Friday evening or Saturday morning
  • provide financial aid

It is extremely important to us that no one feels pressured or obliged to contribute beyond their means – e.g. if someone has the time and ability to cook but is uncomfortable with the financial outlay, they will be reimbursed for their expenses by the central fund which will be stocked up Insha’Allah by those who have the money but no time.

Marhoom Syed Abrar Hussain Farshori

With a very heavy heart we are sharing the news of the passing away of Syed Abrar Hussain Farshori, son of late Syed Nasir Hussain Farshori in Basel on June 30, 2025.

He is the son-in-law of Ghulam Abbas Hassam, and was previously a resident of Geneva.

We kindly request Surah e Fateha for the Marhoom.

May Allah bless his soul and elevate him to the highest ranks in the hereafter, and grant the grieving family Sabr in this extremely difficult time as they come to terms with this unimaginable loss.

Greetings and respect,

We have received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, the Pope of the Vatican, who held a high spiritual status among many peoples of the world and was deeply respected by all, due to his distinguished role in serving the causes of peace and tolerance and showing solidarity with the oppressed and persecuted across the globe.

The historic meeting that brought him together with the Supreme Religious Authority in Najaf was of great significance, as both parties affirmed the fundamental role of faith in God Almighty and His messages, and the commitment to noble moral values in overcoming the major challenges facing humanity in this era. They emphasized the need for joint efforts to promote a culture of peaceful coexistence, reject violence and hatred, and uphold values of harmony among people based on the safeguarding of rights and mutual respect among followers of various religions and intellectual orientations.

As the Supreme Religious Authority extends its condolences and sympathy to the followers of the Catholic Church around the world on this grievous loss, it wishes them patience and solace and prays to Almighty God to bestow upon them and all of humanity the goodness, blessings, and peace that befit His vast mercy.

Eid ul Fitr 2025

Following the holy fasting month of Ramadhan, Eid-ul-Fitr serves as a timely reminder to be grateful for what we have and to share with those who may be less fortunate. It is an occasion to celebrate by gathering with friends and family to show gratitude towards God.

The Holy Quran Al-Baqarah 2:185
Ramadhan is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guide for humanity with clear proofs of guidance and the standard ˹to distinguish between right and wrong˺. So whoever is present this month, let them fast. But whoever is ill or on a journey, then ˹let them fast˺ an equal number of days ˹after Ramadhan˺. Allah intends ease for you, not hardship, so that you may complete the prescribed period and proclaim the greatness of Allah for guiding you, and perhaps you will be grateful.

The Holy Quran, 2:185

Paying Zakat al-Fitr is obligatory for Muslims on this day.
